Funny thing happened today.

On my third extended session today (the first two times being spread over several months), I finally understood why friends on this thread like the Trifecta so much.

It does have a particular flavor to its midrange and bass that can sound romantic and organic, more so when you are not listening for it, if that makes any sense!

I have to say that the first two times I tried the Trifecta, not only did I not understand its allure, but I found the tuning wonky and technicalities rather disappointing for the $3K price.

However, today, I did connect with it. The bass is indeed impressive and immersive with good tactility and impact and the midrange can sound natural, especially with male voices. The words “wooden” and “earthy” come to mind (borrowed from the world of perfumery).

The treble is a bit zingy but for trebles I generally prefer brigher rather than dead. Some EQ will definitely help the treble sound less digital (in an otherwise relatively analog sounding IEM, timbrally).

I will say that it still doesn’t impress me for technical performance and reminds me of IEMs in the $2K range.

But overall, I liked it enough to consider buying it if I can get it at a discounted price or used. It does have a unique personality, so to speak, which I look for increasingly.

Note: All listening done with the Trifecta Astral Plane which is supposed to be different only in appearance?
